Originally from Donegal, I have been living in Dublin since 1992.
I graduated from DBS School of Arts with an honours degree (BA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2002. I then began to practice counselling, under supervision, and by May 2004 had done the 450 hours counselling needed to become an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), the largest association for counsellors and psychotherapists in Ireland.

I successfully became accredited with IACP and now serve on their accreditation committee (as well as other committees) and am entitled to use the initials after my name. (Some therapists with websites are not yet accredited and may still be working towards accreditation.) I continue to add to my skills, getting training in hypnotherapy from Paul Goldin and Paul McKenna. I am a Master Practitioner of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming).

In 2010, I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a Master of Science degree in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology. As well as counselling, I have taught Psychology part-time to Social Work students at Trinity College Dublin.

In my practice, I choose from many approaches, for example, the person-centred approach for clients with bereavement issues, the cognitive behavioural approach (CBT) for depression and anxiety and NLP for more deep rooted issues. Occasionally, I use more recently developed techniques such as emotional freedom techniques (EFT) to help with issues such as bullying or post-traumatic stress disorder. I am trained and experienced in Brief Solution Focussed Therapy (BSFT).
